Fashion fades, but style remains. A well-used cliché but the truth in the case of Andre Citroen's Traction.
The development costs of the Traction Avant were so enormous, Citroën was declared bankrupt in 1934.
During WW2 the Germans commandeered thousands of them following the invasion of France in 1940. A particular favorite with Luftwaffe pilots & the Gestapo who liked to use the Traction Avant as staff cars, one of their few good calls.
MAX MUMBLES says: “The Traction featured in the 1981 French movie classic 'Diva' directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix. He’s quoted as saying 'There’s nothing like using a gorgeous Citroen in a French film' Who can argue? ”
