There are endless disputes among film fans as to who was the best James Bond?

At BENSIN we think Steve McQueen should have been a contender.

In the first draft of ‘Bullitt’, Det. Frank Bullitt was a Boston policeman who ate a lot of ice cream and never solved a case. Bullitt’s famous chase scene didn’t feature either.

Steve McQueen changed the script & based his character on San Francisco Homicide Inspector Dave Toschi, famous for his work on the Zodiac killings. McQueen also made a copy made of Toschi's custom fast-draw shoulder holster.

McQueen rode with the SFPD in preparation for the role & they tested his mettle by taking him to a morgue. They admitted that the star was pretty cool when he showed up, eating an apple.

This 100% unofficial BENSIN T-Shirt features Frank Bullitt dusting off his tuxedo and getting his martini shakers ready as the best 007 ever!
